Talk about refreshing & renewing. Sounds like it was a lot of fun, and most of all, relaxing. Reminds me of how we used to spend New Year's Day - football games all day; grazing at the food "trough"; & generally doing nothing. It's quite productive! One boy said,"My dad is a banker. He gets off work at 5:00 and is home from downtown by 5:10." The second boy said, "Well my dad is a lawyer. He gets off work at 5:00 and is home from downtown by 5:05." The third boy said, "My dad works for the government. He gets off work at 5:00 and is home by 3:30." Government town + Ministry = freezer full of fish. Oh yes, the good old days of government work…..

And I agree with you, keep the federal holidays coming. My wife and I recently decided to take our oldest, who is 5, on the Star Wars journey. We started with Episode IV. We're debating whether to take him into the (in our opinion) disappointing world of Episodes I, II, and III. Doing nothing is one of my favorites.
