Our parent / teacher conference began with the teacher leading a prayer. As I have mentioned this is the first time the kids have attended a Christian school. Even though they have been in school for 6 weeks or so and there is a spiritual stream in this school it was still a surprise. As the teacher began to pray I remember thinking "is this allowed?"
I remember back in the day my first rehearsal with the big purple (ACU’s band). Before the rehearsal began someone was called upon to lead a prayer. As the person began to pray I remember thinking "is this allowed?"

Janice has been certified to teach in Tennessee, Alabama, Florida, and now California and she’s always chosen to teach in a private, Christian school over the much larger salary of a public school. Some things are worth more than money … to be able to pray is one of them.

I’m glad where you are “it’s allowed!” Wish it was everywhere……..
By the way, the blogger thing-a-ma-jig has kicked me out of two different blogs today!

I must admit that “prayer before a parent conference” is an advantage Christian Schools have over Public schools. Perhaps those of us in public schools should pray more.

Praying is always allowed. No one can stop you. You can no more outlaw prayer in schools than you could outlaw disliking math. Though some folks in this blog circle might be in favor of such a law.
That said, it is certainly a blessing to be able to openly pray with your kids’ teachers. I have that same blessing at the spanish immersion private school where my son is attending first grade. Unfortunately, his teacher doesn’t speak English and I don’t speak Spanish, so it would definitely lose something.

I’m beginning to think some of you fellows really don’t like math.
I guess as long as there are math tests in school there will always be prayer in school as well.
