Fruitcake
Well? Are you for it or against it?
I’m against it. Candied fruit has no place in cake.

You said you had a difficult meeting with some members who were struggling with biblical interpretation but you knew they loved Jesus. Well, if you think the meeting with the Jesus lovers was difficult wait until you meet with the fruitcake lovers.
I am 100%, without reservation, WITH YOU on this one! However, in light of the Christmas spirit alluded to in your previous post, we should probably cut the fruitcake lovers some slack.
P.S. – Cake should be chocolate!
Randy, you and I live in a state controlled by fruitcakes. But the ones given / received for Christmas are actually very good for target practice. I’m completely FOR fruitcakes!
If not in a fruit cake, where, then, is the appropriate place for candied fruit? in a communion tray? That would be an interesting prayer, “Lord, we thank you for this fruit of the vine and the fruit of the…..um, candy?”
I recall as a kid we had some containers of candied fruit that sat on the pantry shelf for, well, several years, unused. That’s probably the appropriate place for it.
Who thought of candying (is that a word?) fruit in the first place?
Having said all that, I must admit to being sort of a closet enjoyer of fruit cake. There, I’ve said it. I’ve come out of the closet (pantry) and admitted I enjoy it. Can I still fellowship with you?
Against. If you are going to enjoy a heavy, rich, calorie-laden treat, make mine chocolate fudge!
Blek!!
Against. But I like the tins they come in. They’re great for refilling with really good home-made cookies.
