Busy Week
We’re all busy, I realize that. It just seems some weeks are busier than others.
I’ve been preparing for four weeks now a message I will deliver this coming Sunday on Mark 10:1-12.
After you look the passage up the extensive prep time will make more sense.
I have that on my mind as I prepare to officiate a funeral service tomorrow.
Unless you’ve officiated a funeral service you don’t understand the extra burden and pressure it places on an already busy week.
I don’t say this for sympathy just a glimpse into my reality for this week.
The fires in southern California are a concern as well for our family who at this point are safe but worried.
Much on the mind, much on the mind . . .
Are nuts? Shoot an email to Memphis School of Preaching and they’ll give you the TRUTH on any biblical text. Why spend four weeks doing your own study when they’ve already done all the necessary work??
I do know what you mean about the extra work involved w/ a funeral. It’s a totally different kind of preparing than any other work in ministry.
I’ve never seen so many fires burning so out of control. We have friends in just about all of these areas.
Hey, Hey, Hey, Greg……….I’m surprised at you. Can you not behave for just a second? Such derision about a fine Memphis establishment!
Randy, you’ll be in my thoughts as you prepare for the funeral. I can only imagine how hard that is for you who have to do this. I’ve never had to “preach” a funeral (the establishment mentioned by above by our mutual friend sure wouldn’t like that!), but I have sung at many. Psyching myself up for that has always been hard. I’ll say an extra prayer for you for strength, wisdom, and compassion (and also as you prepare for Sunday’s sermon). God bless.
We have family that work at and live near Pepperdine, L A and San Diego. Pray, Pray, Pray for them all.
I’ve sung at many a funeral myself and the added stress to a week is a paientce and mind buster.
Blessings my friend
I’ve gotten in some trouble on that Mark 10.1-10 section. One person got very mad at me when we talked about it.
I find it is easier to apply it to people and their specific situations (like Jesus did to the people who asked him the questions) than to simply teach the passage to people who are not asking the questions.
We too are keeping up on the Malibu situation.
