Fraud

Some purchases (2 thousand dollars worth) were made at Walmart in Rhode Island this past Sunday on our debit card.

Anything sound odd about that last sentence?

Besides the fact that we were not in Rhode Island.

Besides the fact that I can’t imagine spending 2 thousand dollars at Walmart.

Yep, somebody swiped our card and sold the number to someone who’s been free spending.

Time to go buy a really large TV and claim it as a fraudulent purchase?

Let me have that number and I’ll do some fraudulent shopping here in California … that way it won’t seem so odd to you.

We had someone steal our credit card # and try to charge $16.000 + of laptop computers from Best Buy.
Best Buy called our office to confirm the purchase from a Mississippi store. I’ve never been to that state eather.
    What’s your #

We had a book of checks stolen once. It was a nightmare dealing with the clean up. We had moved to Kansas from Oregon, and suddenly all of these checks started being written on our closed account. It was years before we got the misdirected collections agencies off our backs. Even with the police report and affidavits, we were entered on CheckScan’s database and couldn’t write checks at stores. Fortunately, checkcards came out about that time so we didn’t need checks for the most part.

That is a bummer. How long did it take you to know there was a problem?
