Olympic Moments

Best Olympic moment (besides Phelps and the US swim relay team):

The sheer jubilation and ecstatic bliss displayed by certain swimmers over winning silver and bronze.  In the face of “if I don’t win the gold it doesn’t mean anything” these swimmers were truly happy for their accomplishment.  They should be.

Worst (most nauseating) Olympic moment:

The Wide Receivers of Olympic sports, yes, the sprinters on the track.  Would it be possible to win a race without acting like a pompous, flag draped idiot?

Most unnatural Olympic moment:

This thing called Speed walking, seriously, are you kidding me?  Sure they are speed walking 7 minute miles. Yes, I’m jealous that this time is faster than my mile per minute time.  But, have you seen the way they move?  If you have, don’t you find that making duck quack noises just adds to the fun?  This event demands that Bela Karolyi provide the play by play, in depth analysis and color commentary.

I was just over in Stumptown, wondering why it is that sprinters love themselves so much. I mean, don’t they basically have just the one talent? I’ll bet good money that I could solve a quadratic or complete a square faster than they could.

I suppose . . . I never watch the olympics. But then, I don’t watch the college basketball finals either.

Who can forget Bernd Kannenberg’s famous gold medal performance at Munich in 1972 in the 50 km race walking event??….quack, quack.

How about the 100 meter hurdles with the USA guy who won silver saying into the camera for some reason, “5,1,3 – 5,1,3 baby” and “We’re Number One.” I don’t know about the 5-1-3 but how can one claim to be number one when at best, he and his teammate were number 2 and 3.

I think you are right about the sprinters. They seem to be full of themselves. Thus the dropping of the batons…

I have missed most of the events, but am none the worse for it.

I’ve watched a lot of the games this year. I liked the “women’s” gymnastics, especially Shawn Johnson. Sure hated it for Laura Wilkinson last night in the diving……….was pulling for her. Got tired real quick of beach volleyball. Kept waiting for the figure skating? I guess that’s in Winter Olympics, huh?? :)
