Educational Insights and Observations
I actually miss not going into the classroom today . . .
I’m not sure I could say enough good things about Cecil and Steve and Peggy (our drummer Jim and others we all know) who truly work on the front lines of ministry in a much needed way.
My brief time in the classroom of a large high school has given me great appreciation for those of you in the field of education who by your expertise and your walk with Christ are making a difference in many tangible ways.
I’m not against Christian Schools – they can serve in a unique way. But I do know this . . . If we pull all the Christ followers out of the schools (teachers, students and staff) and hide behind our walls we’ve given up significant, precious ground to the god of this world.
We don’t give enough applause (or pay) to our teachers.
Thanks for the props, brother. It has been an incredible ministry for over 20 years. Even though my transition to full-time ministry is many years away, I am already giving a lot of thought to what I’ll be missing. We truly DO need as many Christians in our schools as possible.
Thanks Bro. On more than one occasion I’ve invited a parent to shadow their child throughout the school day. To a person, each of them usually come back and say something along the lines of what you stated. I’m glad that you got to experience what you did, not for what I stated but for the gifts you bring to students as well.
Teachers are true heros. It’s a shame they don’t get paid what our entertainers and sports figures are paid!
