Wow!  I’m not exactly sure what to say about the poll results.

They are exactly the results (in the exact order) as mentioned in the book I read.

Yes, the top 3 phrases people most want to hear are:

1.  I Love You (94%)

2. I Forgive You (59%)

3. Dinner is Ready (41%)

Is anyone else surprised that our simple, unscientific poll netted the same result as the big time magazine study?

Of course had “You can buy another guitar” been one of the phrases that would have yielded poll results that would have been slightly skewed!

   I was really torn between “dinner is ready” (meaning someone else made it – woo-hoo!) or “the check is in the mail”. I figured we could go out to dinner if we’re getting a check, so we all win.

   Of course the omission of “You can buy another guitar” was a strong indication of just how much this big time magazine study was out of touch with where we really live.

   Sounds as if your sample was sufficiently large and random (blah, blah, blah)… And, if we weren’t looking forward to learning whether J&A’s growing little one is a boy or a girl, my responses would have at least partially reinforced the results.
