Up In The Air . . .

No way it could be mistaken for a bird it was definitely a plane.

A really BIG plane.

I got out of my truck to see kind of BIG plane.

People came out of their houses to see kind of BIG plane.

High school kids quit baseball / softball activity to watch kind of BIG plane.

Did I mention it was a BIG plane?

Stockton has an airport.  The kind of airport that offers flights directly to Las Vegas.

Every once in a while a plane of some size will fly over (high above) in route to Sacramento or other destinations.  We never hear them and only see them if we happen to be looking up.

This plane was preparing to land either at the airport or at the mall because it was low and loud and BIG.

We thought the plane was landing in the street it was that low!

It looked like a military Boeing C-17 or a Lockheed C-5, but as I am not an aviation expert (nor did I stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night) I can’t be sure.

Nothing on the news.  Nothing in the online version of the paper.  Let’s see how long it takes to have some snippet (if any) of this unusual event.

Do you have a Holiday Inn Express in Stockton? It might serve you well spend a night there … just in case! But don’t take coffee to a naked lady you don’t know!

Those big cargo planes flew out of Long Beach (where some of them are made) often and they are HUGE! The strangest experience I had was driving to Wal Mart one day when a dark shadow covered the car. I looked up to see what it was (no, I am not a UFO enthusiast) and one of those stealth planes (F-117, I think) was flying over me. It was not making a sound. Very eerie.

Maybe the Spruce Goose is back in operation or even better maybe it was an Antonov AN-225 that has a take off weight of 1.2 million pounds, but unlikely since it was built in the Ukraine and is a Russian plane. I’m assuming it didn’t look anything like the Hindenberg.

    Peace.

I didn’t see it. But it was definitely bigger than the birds, I mean planes, that fly over our place.

I hate it when that happens and there are no explanations!

I once dropped to my knees and did a duck and cover only to discover that the “explosion” was the Space Shuttle returning to KSC with it’s signature sonic boom. I’m sure my neighbors thought I was praying for (in my best Hank Hill voice) “my lawn mower.”

C-130 maybe? National Guard flies those all the time. Maybe they’re getting ready for deployment to Afghanistan. Maybe that inland port you have is being taken over.
