I Was Wrong

Those 3 words can be hard to pronounce hard to write and yet they are very important words.

When I found out that Kris won I was happy and relieved.

We got home late and thanks to the DVR I decided to watch the entire episode.

I was pulling for Danny – that worship leader thing – but that didn’t work out.

I thought Kris was very talented musically and vocally but thought he was in the final as a way to guarantee Adam’s victory.

I was wrong.

I didn’t want Adam to win and honestly it was mostly about the pictures that surfaced of him and him.

It’s not supposed to be an issue (someone’s sexual orientation) right?  At least that’s what they say.

But it is still an issue for me.

And if it’s not supposed to be an issue why does it seem the issue of sexual orientation pushed and flaunted?

I thought Adam did a great job of changing his appearance but he seemed on the vocal front to be very one-dimensional.

Granted that dimension was over-the-top spectacular but would you enjoy it song after song after song in the same concert?

If the band KISS is your idea of musical entertainment done right than I guess the answer is yes.

And speaking of KISS,  just exactly how many times can you stick out your tongue during a 3 minute song?

Highlights from last nights final episode:

  • Steve Martin playing the banjo (though I kept waiting for him to roll into “the banjo is such a happy instrument”)
  • Duet with Cyndi Lauper and Alison
  • Duet with Lionel Richie and Danny
  • Duet with Kris Urban
  • Santana number – he’s OK on the guitar but he’s no Greg England!
  • Are there really only two remaining members of Queen?
  • Actually I thought the producers did a great job at pairing contestants with celebrity singers to match style and genre.
  • If I don’t ever see Tatianna in the news again thanking Jesus or God or whatever and bikini girl (let’s hope that’s the last 15 minutes) it would okay with me.

I’m still thinking of producing a new series called American Preachers – same format – celebrity judges – the whole thing.

I was wrong, too! Having Razorback blood flowing through my veins, I was elated that Kris won. And he can really do up a song nicely, besides that! Go Kris from Conway. However, I, too, wanted Danny to go all the way. I think he’s awesome. I’ll bet he sings tenor in church, don’t you think, and that would make me love him, if nothing else. Adam is good. I surely thought he’d win. I think the judges were all bent toward him. I didn’t know about that him and him thing. CAN I AUDITION FOR YOUR PREACHERS’ SHOW? :)

Great … you plan an “American Preachers” show now that I’m no longer preaching. Would it be possible for Josh and me to bring our gurney and provide some entertainment?

Interesting commentary on potential religious angles missed on this. Check out the story entitled, “Ghosts in the Idol Finale,” http://www.getreligion.org/

Do you need Elders to be Judges?
Can’t you just see it -
“Randy, that was a poor subject for your sermon- giving!!”

“Dog, This is a preaching contest and you can preach!”
