We’ve always enjoyed the Iron Chef series (competitive cooking series which originated in Japan) and have enjoyed the Western spin on Iron Chef America.
The series to find the next Iron Chef has its promising moments.
Except when the person that is leading the pack is really self-centered and mean (or is it just because of editing).
I don’t think it’s unreasonable or asking too much for the winning chef to be a good chef and a good person.
But then again – we’ve given athletes permission to be great athletes and lousy people all at the same time.
What are you looking for or expect in a church website?
Why is it that the shorter the story behind the request for help, the more eager I am to help?
When you’ve heard story after story as people ask for financial assistance you tend to not believe the majority of the stories or 90% of the story itself.
We’ve had the debate between “we need to make sure we are actually helping someone” (so they can’t buy booze) and “what they do with our gift of generosity is between them and God” (in other words our job is just to be generous).
Certainly on a case by case basis I gravitate somewhere between those two positions.
Both the helper and the one who needs to be helped can certainly talk themselves out of helping or being helped.
I don’t think it’s a secret that I like Chick-Fil-A, so I got a good laugh out of this Tim Hawkins video. Check out his website for more good natured fun. He’s got a great song parody of agin rockers.
