Christmas At The Empire
The LHS Choir & Orchestra held their Christmas concert at the Empire last night.
For those of you who don’t live in Stockton, the empire is the old downtown theatre converted into a coffee shop / performance venue.
A nice (but aging) venue.
The students looked smashing in their formal dresses and tuxedos.
The program they attempted was challenging in various respects (they did their own version of Africa by Toto as seen on YouTube).
As a critic I would observe the program was too long.
As a parent I would observe the program was still too long.
In my view it would be far better to have fewer songs and do them well.
Speaking of which . . . let’s talk about Sunday morning . . .
That was always my complaint about any high school band program. Too long! They always lasted no less than 2-1/2 hours and never started on time, so we were LATE getting home. And the high school band where Josh attended was outstanding!
One thing I like about Chorus Church is that we do fewer songs, but do them very well.
It is always difficult to make a program (or worship service) short when you are trying to impress people.
